Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 14 May 2025  ·  Kanok, 62 Tha Phae Road, Si Phum, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand

These terms set out the basis on which Kanok provides watch repair and restoration services. We have written them to be straightforward and fair. If anything is unclear, please ask us before leaving a piece in our care.

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("terms") govern all watch repair and restoration services provided by Kanok ("we", "us", "our"), operating from 62 Tha Phae Road, Si Phum, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand. By leaving a watch with us or by requesting a service through our website, you agree to these terms.

References to "you" or "the client" mean the individual or entity bringing a timepiece to us for service. We may update these terms occasionally; the version in effect at the time you drop off your watch governs that particular service.

2. Services offered

We offer three service tiers, each described in full on our Services page and at the workshop. Briefly:

Quartz Service & Battery Care

฿4,600

Includes battery replacement, gasket inspection, contact cleaning, and a circuit and water-resistance check where the design allows. Indicative turnaround: a few days.

Automatic Regulation & Refresh

฿9,800

Covers movement cleaning, re-lubrication, positional regulation, gasket renewal, and crown-action check. Indicative turnaround: two to three weeks.

Heritage Restoration Programme

฿14,200

A full movement overhaul combined with careful case and bracelet refinishing. All cosmetic decisions are agreed with you in advance. Photographs accompany each stage. Indicative turnaround: five to seven weeks.

Prices shown are the standard starting rates for each tier. We will provide a written assessment and a confirmed price before any work begins. We will not proceed until you have given your approval.

3. Assessments and approval

On receiving your watch, we carry out an initial assessment at no charge. We will then advise you of the recommended service tier, any additional work required, and the total estimated cost. We may contact you by phone or email to discuss the findings.

  • No service work begins until you provide your written or verbal approval of the estimate.
  • If additional issues are discovered during the service, we will pause and contact you before continuing.
  • If you choose not to proceed after assessment, we will return the watch to you as received. A handling fee of ฿300 applies to cover the cost of the initial inspection.

Turnaround times given are indicative. We will update you if a complication extends the expected completion date. We do not apply a surcharge for additional time taken in good faith to complete the work carefully.

4. Payment

All prices are quoted and charged in Thai Baht (฿). We accept the following payment methods:

  • Cash — Thai Baht, at the workshop
  • Bank transfer — Thai bank transfer (PromptPay or direct transfer); details provided at time of collection

Full payment is due upon collection of the watch. We do not release a serviced piece until payment has cleared. For longer services — particularly the Heritage Restoration Programme — we may ask for a deposit of ฿3,000 before work begins; this will be clearly communicated at the approval stage.

Receipts are issued for all payments. If you require a tax invoice, please let us know at the time of dropping off your watch.

5. Collection and uncollected watches

We will notify you when your watch is ready for collection. We ask that watches are collected within 30 days of the completion notification. After 60 days, if we have been unable to reach you through reasonable efforts, we reserve the right to apply a storage charge of ฿50 per day for each day beyond the 60-day period.

If you are unable to collect in person, please contact us to arrange a trusted representative or discuss alternative arrangements.

6. Care of your watch while in our custody

We treat every piece in our care with the same attention we would give our own. Watches are stored securely within the workshop at all times. We hold insurance for items in our custody; if you have a particularly valuable piece, we recommend advising us of its declared value so we can discuss appropriate coverage arrangements.

We take photographs of the watch on receipt to document its condition. If you believe the watch was returned in a different condition than agreed, please raise this with us within 5 days of collection so we can review our records together.

7. Liability

We take care with every piece and aim to return each watch in better condition than it arrived. However, some watches — particularly older or heavily worn pieces — may reveal pre-existing fragility during service that was not visible at intake. In such cases, we will pause the work and contact you before proceeding.

  • Our liability for any loss or damage caused by our negligence is limited to the agreed service value, or the replacement cost of comparable spare parts, whichever is lower.
  • We are not liable for pre-existing faults that become apparent during the course of a service, provided we have communicated these to you promptly.
  • We are not liable for losses arising from delays to turnaround time unless those delays result from clear negligence on our part.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any liability that cannot be lawfully excluded under Thai law.

8. Service warranty

We stand behind the work we carry out. Each completed service carries the following warranty period, covering the specific work performed:

  • Quartz Service & Battery Care — 12 months on battery and contact work
  • Automatic Regulation & Refresh — 12 months on movement regulation and lubrication
  • Heritage Restoration Programme — 24 months on movement overhaul work

The warranty does not cover:

  • Accidental damage, impacts, or water ingress beyond the watch's rated resistance
  • Normal wear on components unrelated to the service performed
  • Damage resulting from subsequent work by another repairer

If a warranty issue arises, please bring the watch back to us. We will assess it promptly and, where the issue falls within the warranty, carry out the necessary work at no additional charge.

9. Your responsibilities

  • Please provide accurate information about the watch's history, any known faults, and any previous repairs carried out elsewhere. This helps us serve you well.
  • Ensure that you are the owner of the watch, or that you have authority from the owner to arrange a service on their behalf.
  • Keep contact details current so we can reach you with updates and collection notifications.
  • Collect the watch within the timeframe set out in Section 5.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising in connection with a service will first be addressed through direct discussion between you and the workshop. We take concerns seriously and will make every reasonable effort to resolve them informally.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
